"Rev. Katherine," as the children and young people call her, has been serving Moorefield Church and its chapels since June of 2004. Prior to coming to Moorefield Rev. Katherine served churches in Southside and Southwest VA.
She is a graduate of Union Seminary in Richmond where she received her Doctor of Ministry degree.
Rev. Katherine is a native of Memphis, TN. Her husband, Scott, and son, John Scott are actively involved in the church and when not in church can be found camping with the Boy Scouts or re-enacting with the Civil War buffs. Rev. Katherine does not join them; but prefers to stay home and watch re-runs of "Law & Order." She is not a grandmother, yet; though her daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Frank Vaught, have begun to "talk about" the possibility of children. |
Student Pastor: Tommy N. Taylor |
email Tommy |
Hello. I am Tommy Taylor, and for this summer, I am an intern at Moorefield Presbyterian Church. I have a home in North Carolina, where my wife Christiann is taking care of our critters and helping to keep a husband and a son in school. Our son, Austin, is a junior at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, NC, studying film making with a focus on animation. He has already won significant awards for the short films he has made.
I am a second year student at Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, VA, pursuing a Masters of Divinity towards becoming a Minister of Word and Sacrament in the PCUSA.
My internship here is part of my seminary education, and as I seek to serve these congregations, I am also called to complete some academic work as well. I feel very fortunate to have connected with Rev. Katherine Jackson. We share much the same philosophy and I am going to learn a lot from her.
My “prior life” was a career in science. I have a B.S. in Biophysical Sciences(1973), an M.S. in Molecular Biology(1975), with over thirty years working in Analytical Chemistry with scientific instrument companies. The last few years, I have been working in laboratories primarily in pharmaceutical testing.
My call to ministry has been developing over much of my life. I became a Lay Pastor in Coastal Carolina Presbytery in 2000, have been Stated Supply in New Hope Presbytery, and Pulpit Supply in may churches in Coastal Carolina. I entered Union last September and have completed my first year. I hope to eventually be a small church pastor in a rural community.
My door is open and I seek to serve. I will look forward to meeting you and getting to know you. |
Choir Director: Micheline W. Williams |
email Micheline |
Micheline Williams is a new resident to Moorefield, but she's not an unfamiliar face or voice. She's been sharing special music during church services for the past three years while here visiting family. In September of 2006, Micheline, Robert and their son, James made the trips to Moorefield permanent, as they settled into their newly restored home, The Willows, off Cold Springs Road.
Micheline was a music minor in college and has been singing her whole life. This is her first assignment as music director at a church, but a return to conducting after two years as drum major in high school. She sang with the Santa Fe Children's Choir and the Santa Fe Opera as a child, toured with The Wooster Chorus while in college, including a stop at the Kennedy Center, and has been singing in church and community choirs ever since. |
Church Secretary: Monica R. Shirk |
|
Monica Shirk is a native of Petersburg, WV, graduating from Petersburg High School in 2003. After high school graduation she moved to Nashville, TN, where she would spend the next six years studying music business with a minor in TV and film at Belmont and Middle Tennessee Universities; and working with gospel and country music.
On September 3, 2010, Monica married her soul mate, SrA Gary Shirk, on the beautiful beaches of Andersen Air Force Base, Guam. SrA Shirk is an active duty member of the United States Air Force and is currently deployed to Kuwait. Monica believes her two best decisions in life were accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as her savoir and marrying her husband.
Monica is thankful for the opportunity to work with the wonderful congregation of the Moorefield Presbyterian Church. |

... Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these?"
He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You."
Jesus said to him, "Feed My lambs."
